Our campus and its picturesque surroundings

What is a self-guided tour?

Our self-guided tours will allow you to visit campus alone or with others, so you can get a taste of life at Sussex on a time and day that suits you. Through a unique app you will be guided around our picturesque campus on an audio tour. The tour is voiced by our very own students, giving you an authentic experience.

The tour is around two and a half kilometres and takes about sixty minutes, starting outside Sussex House.

About the tour

You can use the self-guided tour to visit our campus alone or with others, any time of the day. This means you can enjoy our South Downs campus in a safe manner and at your own leisure.

We recommend using the app map to guide you around campus. We would also advise bringing headphones with you to enjoy the audio guide fully. As soon as you arrive at the starting point of the tour your audio will start playing automatically. If you wish to stop at any point during the tour, just pause your audio.

If you have any questions, you can email study@sussex.ac.uk or call +44 (0)1273 876787 (Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm).

In the event of an emergency our security team is available 24/7 when onsite. You can either use the blue emergency phones located on campus to dial 3333 or call +44 (0)1273 873333 from your mobile phone.

Parking and facilities

You can park on campus by requesting a parking permit: study@sussex.ac.uk. We would recommend parking at Sussex House (where the tour starts). Find out more about parking and how to get to campus

You will find facilities and a convenience shop on the ground floor of Falmer House. You can also take a break and refreshments in Bramber House, or one of the other cafes and places to eat on campus.

Accessibility

The route of the self-guided tour will follow the accessible pathways on campus. This route has been tested and should be accessible for wheelchair users and those requiring ease of access. Our self-guided route takes in our campus whilst admiring the building from the outside. The tour has a planned stopping point at Bramber House, located on the centre of campus, where you will find accessible facilities including toilets and the Co-op. There is also a Changing Place toilet at the Student Centre which provides sanitary accommodation for people who require the assistance of a carer.

If you notice anything that could be improved, please contact study@sussex.ac.uk.
